This does not affect any statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Weather Exposure

Our products are manufactured to provide the weather performance specified for the relevant product and configuration.

Products should not be installed in locations where the exposure conditions exceed the performance characteristics of the selected system.

Particular care should be taken where products are installed:

  • On extremely exposed elevations
  • In locations subject to severe weather conditions
  • In areas immediately adjacent to coastal environments

Claims relating to poor weather performance may not be accepted where a product has been installed outside its intended performance conditions or contrary to the supplied installation requirements.

7. Bifold Door Track

For bifold doors, the track must be kept clean and free from debris.

Dirt, stones, building materials and other debris must not be allowed to accumulate within the track or drainage areas.

Failure to keep the track clear or failure to maintain the doors correctly may affect operation and may invalidate the applicable warranty.

Bifold doors must also be installed in accordance with the supplied installation instructions.

8. Drawings and Manufacturing Specifications

Where a manufacturing drawing or specification is supplied, customers must carefully check the information before production.

Unless otherwise stated on the drawing, dimensions and configurations should be interpreted from the viewing direction specified on the drawing.

The customer is responsible for checking:

  • Dimensions
  • Opening direction
  • Panel configuration
  • Door handing
  • Window configuration
  • Colour
  • Glazing
  • Hardware
  • Threshold
  • Cill
  • Other selected options

National Glazing Solutions Ltd cannot accept responsibility for a customer’s incorrect interpretation of a drawing or specification where the information provided was clear and the customer failed to notify us before production.

9. Structural Requirements

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the building structure is suitable for the installation of the product.

Where structural calculations are required, these are the responsibility of the customer or their appointed structural professional.

Customers must ensure that suitable structural support is provided above door and window openings.

10. Lintels and Structural Support

Bifold doors and other large door systems require appropriate structural support above the frame.

Where a lintel or other structural support is required, the customer or their appointed contractor is responsible for ensuring that suitable support is installed.

We recommend that an appropriate steel or proprietary lintel is used where required by the building structure and installation specification.

Timber or other alternative structural arrangements should only be used where confirmed as suitable by an appropriately qualified professional.

National Glazing Solutions Ltd cannot accept responsibility for performance problems caused by inadequate structural support or movement of the surrounding building structure.

11. Bifold Door Location

Bifold doors are supplied for installation in locations suitable for the specified product and its performance characteristics.

Where a particular installation location requires additional consideration because of wind loading, exposure or structural conditions, the customer should obtain appropriate professional advice before ordering.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the selected product is suitable for the intended location.

12. Bifold Installation Tolerances

Bifold doors must be installed within the installation tolerances specified for the relevant product.

The opening and frame must be correctly:

  • Level
  • Plumb
  • Square
  • Aligned
  • Supported
  • Packed

The frame must not be forced into an unsuitable opening.

Excessive gaps, insufficient gaps, incorrect packing or installation outside the specified tolerances may affect the performance and operation of the door and may invalidate the applicable warranty.

Additional packing or unsuitable materials used to compensate for incorrect measurements or excessive tolerances may also affect warranty coverage.

13. Suitable Installation Openings

Bifold doors must be installed into an appropriate opening prepared in accordance with the product’s installation requirements.

Where the installation environment differs from the intended application of the product, the customer should obtain confirmation of suitability before installation.

Products installed into unsuitable apertures or structures may not be covered by the warranty where the installation condition causes the defect or performance issue.

14. Domestic Use

Unless specifically stated otherwise, our standard bifold door products are intended for normal domestic residential use.

If a product is intended for:

  • Commercial premises
  • Industrial premises
  • High-trafficapplications
  • Unusually high-frequency use
  • Other non-domestic applications

the customer should contact us before ordering to confirm suitability.

15. Planning Permission and Building Regulations

The customer is responsible for ensuring that the proposed installation complies with all applicable planning requirements, building regulations and other legal requirements.

This may include requirements relating to:

  • Structural alterations
  • Lintels
  • Safety glazing
  • Thermal performance
  • Ventilation
  • Fire safety
  • Accessibility
  • Escape requirements
  • Planning permission
  • Local authority requirements

Where professional advice is required, customers should consult an appropriately qualified professional or the relevant local authority.

16. Sealed Glass Units

Where a defect is identified in a sealed glass unit, the claim will be assessed against the applicable glass manufacturer’s warranty and relevant industry guidance.

Customers may be asked to provide photographs or other evidence to assist with assessment.

Where the defect is covered by the applicable warranty, the appropriate remedy will be determined in accordance with that warranty.

17. Glass Colour and Appearance

Modern glazing products can display natural variations in appearance. Toughened and low-emissivity coated glass may show variations in:

  • Colour
  • Reflection
  • Pattern
  • Appearanceunderdifferent lighting conditions

A slight misting or visual effect may sometimes be visible.

These characteristics can occur naturally during the manufacturing process and are not necessarily considered defects.

18. Low-Threshold Doors

Low thresholds are designed primarily to provide easier or level access.

A low threshold does not provide exactly the same weather performance at the bottom of the door as a standard rebated threshold.

The surrounding opening must therefore be designed with appropriate water management and drainage.

Suitable drainage should be provided immediately outside the threshold to prevent rainwater from accumulating against the door.

Where adequate external drainage is not provided, water ingress may occur during adverse weather conditions.

The primary purpose of a low threshold is level access. The weather performance of the threshold area may differ from that of a standard rebated threshold.

Where maximum weather protection is required, a standard rebated threshold may be more suitable.

19. Handles and Hardware Finishes

Minor variations in the colour or appearance of handles and other hardware may occur.

Chrome, silver and metallic finishes can vary slightly between manufacturing batches and components.

Such minor variations do not necessarily constitute a manufacturing defect.

Hardware manufacturers may also modify or update handle and hinge designs or finishes from time to time.

20. Customer Installation and Understanding

By ordering a product, the customer agrees that they or their appointed installer will install and maintain the product in accordance with the supplied instructions.

Installation and maintenance should be undertaken by someone with appropriate knowledge and experience of door, window or construction installation.

Customers may undertake installation themselves where they have the necessary competence and understanding.

National Glazing Solutions Ltd does not accept responsibility for defects arising from incorrect installation or maintenance.

We do not provide an emergency response service under this Guarantee.

Customers should not arrange third-party remedial work before contacting us and receiving appropriate guidance, as unauthorised remedial work may affect the assessment of a warranty claim.

23. Site Inspections

In circumstances where photographs, videos or other information are insufficient to establish the cause of an issue, a site inspection may be required.

Where an inspection is necessary, we will advise the customer of the applicable inspection arrangements and any inspection fee before the inspection is arranged.

If the inspection confirms that the issue is covered by the applicable warranty, the inspection fee will be refunded where applicable.

If the issue is found to result from incorrect installation, misuse, lack of maintenance, customer measurements, structural conditions or another warranty exclusion, the inspection fee may not be refundable.

During an inspection, National Glazing Solutions Ltd will assess the product and circumstances but will not automatically undertake installation, repair or other labour.

24. Photographs and Videos

Customers may be required to provide digital photographs or videos to support a warranty claim.

Images may be required even where the product was supplied on a supply-only basis or installed by a third party.

Photographs and videos may be used to determine:

  • The nature of the defect
  • Product condition
  • Installation conditions
  • Hardware condition

  • Scaffolding

26. Warranty Remedies

Where a warranty claim is accepted, the appropriate remedy will depend on the nature of the defect and the warranty applicable to the affected component.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Replacement part
  • Replacement hardware
  • Replacement glass unit
  • Repair
  • Replacement component
  • Replacement product where appropriate

The remedy will be determined in accordance with the applicable warranty and the circumstances of the claim.

27. Non-Transferability

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, this Guarantee is provided to the original purchaser and is not automatically transferable to another person or property.

Where a property is sold, the warranty does not automatically transfer to the new owner.

Any proposed transfer must be confirmed by National Glazing Solutions Ltd or the relevant manufacturer where applicable.
